This is all about the marshmallow frosting. The chocolate cake is just something to eat it with, like a piece of toast for homemade raspberry jam. I have never liked marshmallows. A lot of people find this strange, but you’ll find it less bizarre after I tell you I […]
It turns out I wasn’t in the mood for carrot cake this Easter, but I still wanted to make something with carrots. How about a carrot cheesecake? I couldn’t decide if it was weird or not, so I just made it anyway. In order to prevent the carrot […]
These chocolate cupcake brownies are one step away from fudge! They are rich, dense, and moist, yet much softer than a hard fudge. Blackberry cream cheese frosting is the pink bow on top. Before you make dessert, I want to share a few more photos of my night in Portland, OR and my flight home. First up: Elmo getting busted by the PDX police! Actually I think they let him go, but still an interesting sight. Just when I thought I’d seen it […]
This weekend we drove way, way out to where the apple orchards live, and got 5lbs of crisp, fall apples. As much as my nose crinkles at the idea of two hours in the car, it’s worth it. The NEXT DAY, my car still smelled like freshly picked apples!
I’ve wanted to try dragonfruit all summer. They look weird, but taste good, like a light kiwi. I looked for dragonfruit recipes, but there are not many. It’s such a light tasting fruit, it would be lost in a complicated recipe. The pineapple glaze on this tart goes great with […]
I supposed this dessert could be called a vegan mousse, since it does not contain eggs. But I don’t think this qualifies as a real mousse, since it is texture is a bit different. And if it’s not quite a Mousse, it might be a Caribou.
